Usage Instructions
1. **Empty the Pen**: Start by emptying your fountain pen of any ink. If your pen uses a cartridge or converter, remove it and empty it out. If your pen is a piston filler or vacuum filler, twist or push the filling mechanism to expel the ink.
2. **Prepare the Cleaning Solution**: Shake the bottle of Fountain Pen Ink Flush to ensure the ingredients are well mixed. Pour a small amount of the solution into a clean container. You won't need much - just enough to submerge the nib of your pen.
3. **Soak the Nib**: Place the nib of your pen into the cleaning solution. Let it soak for about 10-15 minutes. This will help to dissolve any dried ink that's clogging the nib or feed.
4. **Flush the Pen**: After soaking, flush the pen with the cleaning solution. If your pen uses a cartridge or converter, fill and empty it with the cleaning solution several times. If your pen is a piston filler or vacuum filler, twist or push the filling mechanism to draw the cleaning solution in and out of the pen. Repeat this process until the solution coming out of the pen is clear.
5. **Rinse with Water**: Once the pen is clean, rinse it thoroughly with distilled water. This will remove any residual cleaning solution. Again, fill and empty the pen with water repeatedly until the water coming out of the pen is clear.
6. **Dry the Pen**: Pat the nib dry with a soft cloth. Leave the pen disassembled and allow it to air dry completely before reassembling and refilling with ink.
Remember, it's important to clean your fountain pens regularly to keep them writing smoothly and to prevent clogs or other issues. The frequency of cleaning will depend on how often you use your pens and the type of ink you use. As a general rule, it's a good idea to clean your pens every time you change inks, or at least once a month if you're using the same ink.
